Brief
Choosing unconventional career options is not a good option for many Indian parents. When it comes to their child’s career, there are only two options: become a doctor or an engineer.
Children feel much more confident in choosing a particular career when they are supported by their parents. Thus, parents play a vital role in this entire process.
Increase awareness among students and their peers about the possible career choices and the importance of choosing one’s own career, otherwise there could be possible irreversible damages like deteriorated mental health, depression, and anxiety.
Why this Domain?
- 35% of recorded suicides in India are in the age group 15-24
- 22% of high school students have suicidal thoughts
- 8% of high school students have attempted to commit suicide
- Many GenZ (age 16-24) are unhappy with their career choices.
- If a wrong choice is made, it leads to a change in the field after some months or even years, leading to wasted time and efforts of the person.
- A lot of people in this age are unable to fulfil their personal achievements.

- 8 out of 10 respondents were aged 18-24 year old with 50% males and the other 50% females.
- Majority of the respondents passed their high school between 2021-2024, and others before 2021.
- More than half of the respondents were somewhat happy with their career choice, and many being unhappy.
- 40% of the respondents felt that they were forced or pressured by their families or social expectations to make a certain career choice.
- 1/3rd people said that their passion did not align with their choice of career.
